JOB SUMMARY: Supervise and provide leadership to Property Accountants. Ensure financial statements are prepared timely and accurately. Oversee preparation of related schedules for property operations.


 


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS


 


Leadership



 
Lead team of Property Accountants under direct supervision to carry out their responsibilities with a high professional standard and accuracy with tight deadlines

 


 

 


 

 


 
Assist in resolving accounting issues and setting accounting standards

 


 
Assist Controller in the review and implementation of effective systems and internal control procedures; ensure efficiency and effectiveness of all accounting operations

 


 


Financial Reporting



 
Review preliminary Operating Statements and corresponding General Ledgers for assigned properties on a monthly basis. Resolve issues with Property Accountants prior to issuance of final reports.

 


 
Review supplemental schedules on a monthly basis to reconcile account balances including, but not limited to, balance sheet accounts and final account statements

 


 
Assist Property Operations in forecast/budget process

 


 


General Accounting



 
Review bank reconciliations on a monthly basis

 


 
Provide timely and effective responses to property, management, and supervisor requests

 


 
Miscellaneous responsibilities, as required, including, but not limited to: Conservice liaison, accounting for real estate taxes and insurance, purchase and sale prorations

 


 


Audit



 
Prepare and/or review detailed analyses and working papers, as requested by external/internal auditors

 


 
Provide accounting detail and assistance to internal/external auditors

 


 


 EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelors Degree in Accounting required. 5-7 years? experience as Property Accountant (or higher) or related work experience. Previous supervisory experience a must. CPA a plus.
