Financial Systems Analyst (1079 - SA)

Argo Group US currently has a challenging opportunity for a Financial Systems Analyst located in our San Antonio, TX office.  This enthusiastic, self-motivated individual will be a part of the IT team managing various processes for the Accounting and Business Systems Solutions.

The Financial Systems Analyst will be responsible for helping shape the technical strategy for systems and work closely with the Accounting and Business teams in determining what solution alternatives exist for given business challenges.  The candidate should be able to participate in analysis and project shaping discussions and articulate recommendations.  The candidate should have 3-5 years experience working directly with IT for Finance Business solutions. 


The successful candidate must have very strong problem solving skills, business skills, verbal and written communication skills. This role requires excellent relationship building skills, as well as leadership and process management skills. He/she must have a good understanding of Finance and Accounting application design and implementation; report building, Excel and Access.


The ideal candidate would be an accountant who has experience with system implementations or an IT analyst who has worked closely with a finance/accounting team.


 

Responsibilities

Document, Analyze and Prioritize process improvements and solutions.
Creates and facilitates the Finance and Accounting long-term strategy as a member of the IT organization.
Builds and coordinates plans to realize that strategy.
Develop and maintain process documentation.
Initiate project process to ensure a strong business case to secure approval of the project.
Works with the business to identify and recommend process improvements in conjunction with or in lieu of technical solutions.
Recommend improvements for activities that occur as part of the project life cycle.
Defines project objectives and success criteria.
Works with project managers and development teams to ensure project objectives are met.
Coordinates accounting projects with third-party partner and/or vendor relationships, as necessary  
Actively shares knowledge and learning from project experiences.
 


Job Requirements



Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems, Finance, Accounting or a related IT discipline; 3-5 years experience in successfully delivering enterprise level applications and modules.
Experience with variety of ERP modules such as Oracle Financials and Billing Systems is preferred.
Experience with project lifecycles from business development to final delivery.
Hands on experience querying enterprise databases using SQL tool.
Familiarity with reporting tools such as Cognos to query data warehouses. 
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to absorb and present large amounts of detail through various forms of communications.
Travel as required for project implementation, interaction and completion.  10% travel time is expected.
