Senior Accountant - Healthcare

Employee Type :  Full-Time Industry :  Healthcare - Health Services Manages Others :  Not Specified Job Type :  Accounting Education :  4 Year Degree Experience :  At least 4 year(s) Travel :  None Post Date :  5/28/2012  Description Assists the Accounting Manager in maintaining the integrity of the general ledger and financial reporting systems and processes.   Completes various analyses, including general ledger account reconciliations and verification of the various system interfaces; drawing conclusions and recommending solutions and/or improvements as a result.  Functions as a resource to the Accounting Manager and Director of Accounting  Requirements

Minimum Licensure/Certification Required (if applicable):

This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in accounting from an accredited university and four to six years of accounting experience.  In lieu of an accounting degree substantive and extensive experience with a healthcare organization will be considered. CPA preferred.

 

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

 Must have demonstrated experience in navigating financial systems and processes.  Several years of experience in a public accounting firm preferred.  Must have a thorough knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles.  Complete and thorough understanding of entire financial process including all aspects of accrual accounting. Extensive experience with computerized financial systems and spreadsheet software; Knowledge of People Soft, Lawson, HealthQuest, Hyperion, Essbase preferred. Intermediate to advanced experience with MS Word and MS Excel Excellent oral and written communication skills are required with the ability to deal with information of a confidential nature and to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel Ability to function with minimal supervision and take ownership of his/her work product.  Provide direction to other departmental staff while taking the initiative to evaluate and improve existing processes to be more efficient and effective in producing all financial information for management.  Strong organizational, analytical, and problem solving skills. Independent judgment and insight needed to evaluate situations correctly as well as foresight to avoid complications. Must be able to function with interruptions and still meet deadlines while working cooperatively with individuals both inside and outside the organization.

                Must be able to manage multiple workplace demands and set realistic and obtainable priorities.
