Responsibilities include reconciling and analyzing accounts; preparing long-term revenue and expense projections and expanded project accounting; performing cost-benefit analyses; assisting in the coordination, preparation and monitoring of Agency budgets; performing overhead analysis for capital improvement projects and other cost allocations; conducting internal audits; preparing a wide variety of reports and analyses of financial data; assisting Agency departments with contract administration; assisting with the preparation of grant applications and administering grants received; and, performing professional accounting work in accordance with prescribed accounting standards (e.g., GASB, GAAP, Utility Accounting). Sufficient education, training and experience to demonstrate the knowledge and abilities listed above. These would normally be acquired by the completion of the requirements for a bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration or a closely related field and four years of increasingly responsible public sector finance and budgeting experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Finance and budgeting experience at a public utility is highly desirable.
