Tribune Company has an immediate opening for an in the Corporate Law Department. The candidate will provide support for several attorneys and for the department generally The Law Department supports all of Tribune's operating businesses, including the Chicago Tribune, WGN-Radio and TV, and the lawyers practice in areas such as publishing, broadcasting, corporate, litigation, real estate, internet, advertising and marketing, intellectual property and technology. This position requires an energetic candidate who is highly organized, dependable, displays initiative, has excellent judgment, and can manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines. Past law firm or in-house experience is required. In addition, proficiency with Internet research and experience with interactive and social media will be useful but is not required.



Provides comprehensive administrative support to a group of 4 attorneys, 3 labor and employee relations attorneys and 1 intellectual property attorney.



Creating and Editing documents and spreadsheets


Preparing presentations


Managing daily schedules, including filing and project deadlines Drafting and distributing correspondence


Coordinating subpoena responses


Answering and screening telephone calls


Make travel and meeting arrangements


Assemble mailings


Ordering office supplies


Paying invoices


Preparing and submitting expense reports


Coordinating the processing and payment of legal bills


Copying, filing and other general administrative duties as needed. Advanced PC skills (Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint)


Ability to handle highly confidential and sensitive information with discretion, also produce work with a high level of accuracy.


The individual must have a pleasant demeanor, excellent organizational and oral and written communication skills, attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to handle multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines.


Position requires advanced administrative skills.


At least 5 years of experience as an is required. A college degree and prior legal experience (law firm or corporate legal department) are highly preferred.
