The for our Major Maintenance Group is a critical role in our organization that performs budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis for maintenance of our fleet of 200 gas turbines. This group has a high impact on Calpine Corporation by enabling us to utilize economies of scale, and react to issues qiuickly, and devise and implement cost effective solutions in our own fleet.

The position requires strong cost/project accounting, variance analysis skills, and experience with financial analysis and reporting software.  Experience with a CMMS is highly preferred.  

Prepares and analyzes portions of monthly variance analysis and cost statements including forecast updates. Assists in coordination of accounting information from outage directors/managers and regional business managers to COSCI Accounting and FP&A. Assists with preparation of major maintenance and department budget. Position will be involved in development of and preparation of various process metrics. Assists in preparation of monthly internal management reporting packages on results of outages, which includes variance analysis. Position will assist in the development and use of the PeopleSoft Project Costing Module for major maintenance activities. Develops and maintains job processes and procedures. Other duties and special projects as assigned.


 

Job Requirements 

Four-year degree in accounting/finance/economics. Related experience will be considered. Must possess a minimum of four years experience with Electric Utility, IPP, or other Heavy Industry. Knowledge of Gas Turbine Life Cycle cost drivers and dependencies a plus. Excellent spreadsheet modeling skills are required. Strong analytical and technical skills required. Must be able to read, understand, and apply technical and finance details of various styles of gas turbine major maintenance contracts Strong communication and interpersonal skills; results-oriented; able to work autonomously and in a team environment. Self-starter with initiative and ability to handle multiple tasks. Ability to work in a fast-pace environment with significant deadlines. Dependable and can follow through on all assignments. Must be motivated to work independently and complete these responsibilities with little supervision. Must be detail oriented. Oracle Hyperion experience preferred but not required. PeopleSoft experience preferred but not required. Maximo or other CMMS experience preferred but not required. Some Overtime Required, Minimal Travel Required
