Report this job job description The Commodity Sr Financial Analyst will support the VP and Directors of Risk Management with data analysis and reporting related to commodity risk management performance. The primary function of the role will be the compile data, perform detailed analyses and produce reports related to tracking and monitoring total usage/requirements, total spend for commodity categories, length of cover, contract balances, and measurements versus market prices. This position will assist the Directors in working with internal business units and external suppliers to assess, analyze, recommend and implement commodity risk management solutions that result in enhanced financial performance. This position will also lead the efforts to streamline analytics and reporting to the NISC tool which houses all utility payments for Dean business units.
1. Mine data from a variety of sources within Dean that will provide a comprehensive analysis of Dean’s commodity requirements and contractual commitments. Use sources of data to create and implement an integrated risk management reporting and tracking system.
2. Analyze contract balances, commodity requirement and develop/maintain a commodity tracking mechanism that will report length of cover, price, risk and opportunities for all commodities.
3. Develop data-driven, fact-based information to support commodity risk management decisions, as well as supplier selection decisions. Perform supplier research to ensure commodity sourcing strategies are conducive to lowest landed commodity costs.
4. Manage the NISC database, including developing enhanced analytical systems and processes to streamline the bill exception handling process and sustainability reporting.
5. Understand and monitor global commodities to track trends and evaluate the risk that commodity supply/demand and price changes have on Dean’s business.
6. Demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of Dean manufacturing operations relative to commodity usage and requirements.
7. Prepare and review weekly, monthly and/or quarterly commodity position reports relating to the overall performance of the commodity risk management strategies and the contribution to the Company’s profitability.
8. Assist the VP and Directors with development of KPI’s for assessing commodity risk management programs.
9. Assist the Commodity Finance Manager with the development of the AOP for Dean business units.
