Manufacturing Reference ID: 12-117 Job Description GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY:
Reporting to the Senior Mechanical Engineer, the is accountable for fabricating structural steelwork, chutes, guards, conveyor belt systems, and performing maintenance and heavy repairs on the Roseville recycling equipment and facility.
NATURE AND SCOPE OF THE POSITION:
The will be responsible for fabricating general steelwork, chutes, and conveyors from engineered drawings in a safe and efficient manner. The will be responsible for performing safe maintenance and repairs on assigned equipment or systems including a large-scale electronic scrap processing line powered by high-pressure hydraulics, high power electrical motors, and 480 volt power systems. The will ensure all necessary maintenance is performed/documented and all safe work procedures are followed to achieve this. The incumbent will be based in Roseville, CA.
The must be proficient in stationary equipment repair. They must also be knowledgeable of 3 phase motor controls, hydraulics, and general millwright practices including welding. The should also possess some computer skills such as the Microsoft Office Suite and CMMS (computerized maintenance management software).
SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1. Supports the operation with maintenance and troubleshooting expertise. This includes performing PMs per schedule and making repairs as directed on the two shredding lines and all their support equipment.
2. Operate the MSP when the staff are not available as directed
3. Perform metal fabrication (conveyors, stands, catwalks, chutes, ventilation hoods, heavy I-beam stands, guardrails, etc) per engineered drawings and instructions
4. Paint fabricated parts.
5. Maintain fabrication shop organization and cleanliness
6. Use of stick, MIG, TIG welding equipment, plasma cutters, and various metal fabrication equipment
7. Help maintain/write SOP?s/SWP?s for equipment usage.
8. Ownership of SimsMMway assigned safety binder(s).
9. Compliance with the SimsMMway operating safety guidelines and training attendance/proficiency.
10. Ensure maintenance and fabrication activities comply with SRS Machinery Maintenance Standards.
11. Self-starter, who takes responsibility for the maintenance of equipment in his/her care. Function effectively within a team.
12. Other duties as required.
Job Requirements TRAINING and EXPERIENCE:
Community College or High School Diploma with appropriate technical training and certification. Certified welder is preferred. At least 4 years demonstrated experience working in an industrial environment with machinery. Experience should include: maintenance of high pressure hydraulic equipment; maintenance of shredding or heavy equipment; maintenance and repair of conveyor systems; alignment of equipment using precision measuring tools; following a preventative maintenance program; safety inspections of equipment; interpreting instructions, specifications, drawings, and manuals; fabricating parts, steelwork, and systems, understanding of the team concept. Must possess a strong mechanical aptitude.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Must be able to work in a team environment. Must be comfortable with working in heights, confined spaces, and a dusty environment with the proper protection.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Position requires heavy physical effort and the ability to perform lifting and moving objects weighing over 50 pounds. Will require pushing, pulling, reaching, walking, standing, crawling, kneeling, bending, exposure to loud noise (above 85dB) and working in cramped positions over and under machinery of all types for sustained periods of time. Requires operation of power tools during these activities.
